There's a rather amusing cartoon on this item in the current issue of Computeractive. I tried looking for it on their website but couldn't find it so if you're interested, you'll have to buy a copy (£1.35) or take a sneaky look at the bottom of page 8 when you visit a newsagents next.
'Course anyone wot hid behind the sofa in the 60's knows Daleks are not really robots but feeble mutants hiding in a glorified mobile suit of armour with a dodgy speech synthesiser!!

Apologies for forgetting the University URL given in the article:
www.uji.es
I was unable to find any reference to robots on the site, but for those wanting more info the following may be of use:
Escola Superior de Tecnologia i Ciències Experimentals (School of Technology and Experimental Sciences)
Campus del Riu Sec
12071 Castelló de la Plana
Tel: +34 964 728456
FAX: +34 964 728451
E-mail: estce@uji.es
Before librarains get too worried, I did read something about "robot doctors" carrying out doctors ward rounds somewhere...

There is an interesting discussion of some of the points around this on Slashdot.
http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/07/24/145208&tid=216
As usual with Slashdot you have to dig through the dross to find the gems.

I've only had a quick look at the it.slashdot.org/article Alan mentioned, but would recommend it to all librarians for some reassurance & for lots of fun. Anyone else hoping to see "I, Robot?"
